After Suits found major success on streaming platforms, NBC decided to develop a spin-off set in the same universe. Shortly after the pilot for Suits L.A. wrapped up production in Canada, NBC decided to give this legal drama a series order.
Suits L.A. stars Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who left his old life behind and started representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.
“His firm is at a crisis point and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives,” reads the show’s official logline.
In addition to Amell in the lead role, Suits L.A. will also star Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, Bryan Greenberg, and Troy Winbush. It remains unclear if any of the stars of the original series would make a cameo, but they’re open to the possibility.
Suits creator Aaron Korsh is returning as the writer of this series, and he’ll be credited as one of the executive producers alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman, Gene Klein, and Victoria Mahoney, who also directed the pilot.
