Supergirl Season 5 Finale Rewrite Means New Fate For Lex Luther

Jon Cryer has revealed that Supergirl writers are rewriting the show’s ending and that this means a new fate for Lex Luther.

The pandemic has meant that many TV shows have had to put filming on hold. Among the list of shows that have had to hold out on releasing new episodes is Supergirl. The filming of season 5 was interrupted and now, the writers are taking the opportunity to rework the season finale. This means that supervillain Lex Luther (Jon Cryer) will have a new ending.

“The Supergirl folks have talked to me because we couldn’t shoot our last episode,” Cryer told PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing. “We had shot some of the last episode, and they’re gonna use some of that footage, but they’re writing a whole bunch of new stuff around it.

“Which is interesting because the way my character was thwarted now doesn’t happen anymore,” he continued. “So I was like, ‘Oh, did I not get defeated? Wait a minute, I like this! Supervillains, we relish our chance to actually not be defeated every now and then.”

Could it be that the bad guy actually wins this time around? We’ll have to wait until season five is released to find out.

Supergirl airs on The CW.
