We’ve seen Tatiana Maslany carry several hit shows on her shoulders, and she’s getting ready to do it again. Orphan Black star landed the lead role in Amazon MGM Studios’ black comedy pilot The Nightbeast.

Maslany will lead the series as a young mother, whose seemingly perfect suburban life comes crashing down once she starts an affair with the boogeyman in her son’s closet.

“This harmless affair she thought to be a figment of her imagination begins to have unexpected consequences, as her two worlds increasingly begin to collide in this seductive, darkly comedic tale,” reads the pilot’s official synopsis.

The Nightbeast was created for Amazon MGM Studios by Leah Rachel and Travis Jackson, with Jamie Babbit on board to direct. Maslany will be credited as a producer, while Peter Warren, Justin Levy, Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Kristen Campo are executive producing.

Tatiana Maslany got her big break with her Emmy-winning role in the sci-fi series Orphan Black. She went on to lead Marvel’s short-lived Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and appeared in HBO’s period drama Perry Mason alongside Matthew Rhys. She’ll next be seen in Osgood Perkins’ supernatural horror film The Monkey opposite Theo James and Elijah Wood.
