Ted Lasso went from being an underdog to a major contender this award season, and its winning streak created a lot of buzz for the next chapter of this story. Season 2 of the fish-out-of-water comedy series is just around the corner, and the first official trailer gave us a taste of things to come.
As Queen and David Bowie’s classic “Under Pressure” plays over the trailer, we get to watch Jason Sudeikis return to the role of Ted Lasso—a happy-go-lucky college U.S. football coach who is hired to manage a pro soccer team in England despite his lack of experience.
The new trailer also brings out some of the strongest supporting players this series has in store, including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, and Brendan Hunt. Sarah Niles is set to join the original cast in the role of sports psychologist Sharon when Ted Lasso returns on July 23rd.
The critically acclaimed sitcom premiered on Apple TV+ last year and went from being one of the most underrated shows of 2020 to a major award winner. Jason Sudeikis won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his titular role, while the series itself received Critics’ Choice Television Awards for the best comedy series.
