The Last of Us is one of the best shows to premiere on HBO in recent years, and its second season is shaping up to be even more epic than the first. The new trailer gave us a taste of things to come, reuniting us with Joel and Ellie, while also introducing us to many brand-new characters.

Based on the video game of the same name, The Last of Us centers on the hardened survivor Joel (Pedro Pascal) as he tries to smuggle a teenage girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey) through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Their journey will continue in the upcoming Season 2, which will further explore their strained relationship and introduce us to several new characters.

The second installment of The Last of Us game partly followed Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), and she’s one of the characters prominently featured in the new trailer. Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac also star.

Catherine O’Hara also joined the cast in a mystery role, and her voiceover is featured in the new trailer:

“Let’s try something different. You can’t heal something unless you’re brave enough to say it out loud. Say the thing that you’re afraid to say. Say it out loud, no matter what it is. No matter how bad. What did you do?”

The Last of Us will return for Season 2 next year, and HBO is yet to set its release date.
