This year’s San Diego Comic-Con has been pretty eventful for The Boys fans, and another spin-off set in this universe has been announced. The prequel series Vought Rising is in the works, with Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash returning as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
Paul Grellong will serve as executive producer and showrunner of Vought Rising, and he revealed what this series has in store during the Comic-Con presentation alongside The Boys franchise boss Eric Kripke.
“It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” said Kripke and Grellong.
Vought Rising will trace the origins of the sinister Vought corporation from the original series. It will mark the return of Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront, who used to go by the name Clara Vought, two of the first successful test subjects for Compound V.
Aya Cash was a part of The Boys cast in Season 2, while Jensen Ackles joined the ensemble in Season 3. He’ll return as a series regular in the upcoming fifth and final season, and his comeback was officially confirmed at Comic-Con.
