The latest season of The Chi has been doing great on streaming since its release, and Showtime and Paramount+ are bringing it back for another ride. Lena Waithe’s hit drama has officially been renewed for Season 7, set to kick off production this month in Chicago.

The Chi centers on a group of residents of the Southside of Chicago who are linked by a fateful turn of events that sends shockwaves through their community before being bonded by their need for connection and redemption.

Jason Mitchell, Ntare Mwine, and Tiffany Boone initially led this series, but the cast shifted from season to season. It now includes Jacob Latimore, Luke James, Curtiss Cook, Michael V. Epps, Shamon Brown Jr., and Yolonda Ross, among others.

Nina L. Diaz, Showtime’s president of content and chief creative officer, confirmed the show’s renewal and praised Waithe for offering a powerful lens into the complexities of life in Chicago and the Black experience in America.

“We’re excited to provide fans with the promise of more – ensuring that they can continue to enjoy the raw, emotional stories and unforgettable characters that have made this seminal series a resounding success for Showtime,” said Diaz in a statement.
