The Final Season of “Homeland” is Set to Air in 2020

Claire Danes in "Homeland"

The final season of Homeland is finally in sight.

Carrie Mathison’s story is about to wrap up as the Showtime drama embarks on its eighth and final season.

Claire Danes will return to the role for which she has won two Emmys and two Golden Globes, as will Mandy Patinkin. They will be joined by Beau Bridges, Maury Sterling, Linus Roache, Costa Ronin, Nimrat Kaur, Numan Acar, and Hugh Dancy.

The premiere date for the last installment has now been revealed as February 9th, 2020, making it almost two years since we last saw the drama, which is based on the Israeli series Hatufim.

Showtime has described season 8 with Carrie Mathison (Danes) “recovering from months of brutal confinement in a Russian gulag. Her body is healing, but her memory remains fractured — which is a problem for Saul (Patinkin), now national security adviser to the newly ascendant President Warner (Bridges).

“The top priority of Warner’s young administration is an end to the ‘forever war’ in Afghanistan, and Saul has been dispatched to engage the Taliban in peace negotiations. But Kabul teems with warlords and mercenaries, zealots and spies — and Saul needs the relationships and expertise that only his protégé can provide. Against medical advice, Saul asks Carrie to walk with him into the lion’s den — one last time.”

It’s all going down come February.
