Alas, the world of online shopping and its impact on regular retail stores will be the theme of the upcoming fifth season of Superstore.
“An overall theme for this season is the future, stemming from the fact that a lot of retail stores are trying to prove that they’re still relevant in the face of online shopping,” co-showrunner Jonathan Green tells TVLine.
“Cloud 9 [has] introduced an initiative called Cloud 9.0,” and “there’s a lot of automation going on.”
In addition, season 5 is expected to include a health scare for floor worker Glenn, and, of course, Mateo’s immigration saga.
The newest shift of Superstore begins on September 26th.
