Season 7 of the hit medical drama The Good Doctor is coming our way next month, but it will also mark its final chapter. We’ll soon bid farewell to Freddie Highmore’s Dr. Shaun Murphy after ABC announced this show will end with its upcoming seventh season.

Based on the South Korean series of the same name, The Good Doctor centered on a young autistic surgeon with a troubled past, after he’s recruited into the surgical unit of a prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.

Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, announced the show’s cancelation and thanked its incredible cast, crew, and their partners at Sony and ABC Signature for the lasting impact they’ve made.

“Thanks to David Shore and Liz Friedman’s creative direction and anchored by Freddie Highmore’s performance, The Good Doctor has captivated audiences, who have deeply connected with Dr. Shaun Murphy and the staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital,” said Erwich in a statement.

Season 7 of The Good Doctor will return to ABC on February 20, and it’s expected to feature 10 episodes. In addition to Highmore, the show’s final season will also star Richard Schiff, Chuku Modu, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Christina Chang, Paige Spara, Bria Samoné Henderson, and Noah Galvin.
