The first season of Elsbeth still hasn’t ended its run, but its future is looking bright. CBS was so impressed by the performance of the latest The Good Wife spin-off that they’ve decided to give it an early Season 2 renewal.

This legal dramedy is led by Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni, an unconventional attorney who left her successful career in Chicago behind to start a new life in New York and use her singular point of view to corner criminals alongside the NYPD.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, confirmed they’re bringing Elsbeth back for another ride, and praised the creative team behind it for creating an incredibly entertaining and engrossing New York City-centric story.

Elsbeth has charmed audiences with its singular blend of delightful humor, distinctive ‘how-done-it’ storytelling, and the inventive, brilliant quirkiness of Elsbeth Tascioni. We are grateful to the uniquely talented cast for bringing these wonderful characters to life,” said Reisenbach in a statement.

In addition to Preston in the lead role, Elsbeth also stars Wendell Pierce, Carra Patterson, Danny McCarthy, Fredric Lehne, and Gloria Reuben. An impressive roster of guest stars popped up throughout the first season, including Jane Krakowski, Retta, Keegan-Michael Key, Gina Gershon, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
