Although The Mandalorian Season 2 is still far from its October premiere date, pre-production has already begun on the third season.

Variety reported that sources have confirmed that Jon Favreau has been “writing season 3 for a while,” that the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, have been creating concepts for Season 3 “for the past few weeks,” and that the production department began working on April 20.

News of Season 3 being in the works came a bit over a month after production was finished for Season 2.

The Mandalorian was the first Star Wars series to launch on Disney+ and it played a role in the service acquiring 50 million subscribers worldwide as of April 8.

Disney+ recently accounted that The Mandalorian is getting a behind-the-scenes look in Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, an eight-episode docuseries set to premiere on Star Wars Day, May 4. The show will be hosted by Favreau and each chapter will feature a different facet of the show through interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations.
