It’s been a while since we’ve learned that the second season of The Night Manager is in development, and things are finally moving forward. The adaptation of John le Carré’s novel will return for not one, but two new seasons, after BBC and Amazon have given it a supercharged order.

The second season of The Night Manager will center on Jonathan Pine eight years after the Season 1 finale. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Tom Hiddleston agreed to return in the lead role and serves as one of the executive producers alongside his former co-star Hugh Laurie.

New seasons of The Night Manager will explore events that weren’t a part of John le Carré’s original book. The author’s sons Simon and Stephen Cornwell, who serve as EPs through The Ink Factory, feel confident that the next two chapters will honor their father’s legacy.

“Revisiting the story of Pine also means going beyond the events of John le Carré’s original work: that is a decision we have not taken lightly, but his compelling characters and the vision David has for their next chapter were irresistible,” they said in a statement.

The Night Manager creator David Farr wrote the new season, while BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies will direct all six episodes. Production will kick off later this year, and BBC and Amazon already green-lit Season 3.
