The Purge has been renewed for a second season.
The USA network waited until Election Day to reveal that the dystopian political thriller The Purge is coming back for another season. The horror movie spin-off has had a moderately successful opening season, which wrapped up this week.
The premise of the show is the same as that of the film. It revolves around the 12-hour “‘purging” period when all crime is legal – including murder. The series explores how far different characters are willing to go to survive the night.
Executive producer Jason Blum announced: “[Series creator] James DeMonaco has done it again: The propulsive and compelling story he created for season one of The Purge truly resonated with audiences in a significant way. We are thrilled to embark on season two and can’t wait to bring more of James’ vision to USA and fans of The Purge.”
You can catch up on the entire first series of The Purge on Amazon Prime Video.
