The Top 10 Biggest Baddies of “Game of Thrones”

Lena Headey in "Game of Thrones"

Not every character on Game of Thrones can be an Arya Stark or a Brienne of Tarth. In fact, there are plenty of characters on the show that are simply there to be the bad guy. Here are the top 10 villains.

Joffrey “Baratheon”

It’s probably best to get the King of the Worst out of the way first. Joffrey physically tortured prostitutes, psychologically tortured Sansa Stark and practiced cruelty on all accounts. “I’m the king, I can do what I want,” pretty much sums up his disposition. Absolutely terrible.

Ramsay Bolton

The only person that can rival Joffrey’s cruelty is Ramsay Bolton. Ramsay is a man so cruel that he actually had us feeling sorry for Theon Greyjoy. He has no redeeming qualities.

Alliser Thorne & Janos Slynt

Aside from a brief moment in season 5, when he was not being a massive jerk, Alliser Thorne did everything he could to make Jon Snow’s time on the wall miserable. Janos Slynt acted as his snotty sidekick, who turned out to be nothing but a spineless bully.

The Waif

The Waif spent an entire season beating Arya and then smirking at her suffering. She took cruel pleasure in knocking her down and jumped at the opportunity to kill her.

Randyll Tarley

Anyone who is unkind to the pure and golden relationship that is Samwell and Gilly is nothing short of unpleasant.

Viscerys Targaryen

In the first season, Viscerys told his sister that he’d let a thousand Dothraki rape her if it would give him the crown. He pretty much lost all hope of us supporting him there and then.

Lancel Lannister

Lancel Lannister was first introduced as a sniveling boy only to return as a snarky fanatic. There may have actually been a point in the season when we hated him more than Cersei.

Meryn Trant

Meryn Trant is a monster with a thirst for killing and an appetite for underage women. Watching him be killed was a season highlight.

Walder Frey

Walder Frey is an unpleasant character who cares little for the people around him, especially his wives. He slaughtered the Starks in his own home and became one of the most hated characters for the rest of his time on the series.

Cersei Lannister

Cersei Lannister is a complex character who loves her children so much that we struggle to unequivocally hate her. Ultimately though, the Queen of Thorns hits the nail on the head when she says “I wonder if you’re the worst person I’ve ever met.” Cersei was responsible for a lot of the bad things that went down in King’s Landing and even Lady Macbeth looks innocent next to her.
