AMC just revealed a new trailer for the midseason of season 8’s premiere of hit series The Walking Dead. In case you didn’t manage to watch the first half of the eighth season, we have to warn you that the trailer contains major spoilers.

The trailer begins with Alexandria set ablaze, as Rick and Michonne talk and tend to Carl, who is very close to death. The mid-season finale revealed that Carl had been bitten on his torso, meaning that he is now infected and will become part of the Walker gang. Rick explains how everything is different now and no one can be themselves anymore.

The trailer also shows a lot of action shots of Daryl, Carol, and Morgan who look to unite forces with Hilltop in order to kill Negan. The group receives help from an unexpected character, Dwight, a Savior who supposedly had a change of hearts. He states that he is there to help them beat Negan, but it is still unclear whether he is genuine or serves as a double agent, which is actually the case in Walking Dead comics.

There is also a shot of King Ezekiel at The Kingdom, talking to Rick but looking rather dull and unwilling. He hasn’t had a great season after his pet tiger Shiva was killed, and the close-up seems to be suggesting he hasn’t got much fight left in him.

Check out the trailer below.

The Walking Dead was a major success when it debuted in 2010 on AMC with ratings sky-rocketing through the roof. Recently, however, the quality of the series hasn’t been great which eventually led to lower ratings. This mid-season trailer suggests that there still could be some life left in The Walking Dead after all.
