After months of anticipation, the Primetime Emmy Awards were finally handed out on Monday night, and the list of winners is as impressive as it gets. The White Lotus led the way with a total of five wins, but Ted Lasso and Succession were right behind.
The White Lotus came into the night as one of the most nominated shows, competing against itself in several major categories. It eventually won a total of five trophies: outstanding limited series, supporting actor (Murray Bartlett), supporting actress (Jennifer Coolidge), and writing and directing (Mike White), all in limited series categories.
Succession was another HBO show with a pretty impressive track record at this year’s Emmy Awards. It won a total of three trophies including outstanding drama series, outstanding supporting actor in a drama series (Matthew Macfadyen), and outstanding writing for a drama series (Jesse Armstrong).
As for comedy categories, Ted Lasso was the biggest winner of the night for the second year in a row. In addition to the award for outstanding comedy series, its stars Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein picked up acting awards in their respective categories, while MJ Delane won an award for directing the show.
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards returned to LA’s Microsoft Theater on September 12, with Kenan Thompson hosting for the first time.
