Things We’re Hoping for “Black Mirror” Season 5

Andrea Riseborough in "Black Mirror"

With more news and rumors about the upcoming fifth season of Black Mirror being released almost daily, we can’t help but dwell on our hopes for the new season of the show. Here are 5 things we’re hoping Charlie Brooker will gift us with the new season.

More Easter Eggs

The season four finale “Black Museum” featured a collection of references and Easter Eggs pointing toward previous episodes (for our full list head here.) Piecing the Easter Eggs together has given weight to the theory that all the stories are set in the same universe, and we’re hoping that the new season will give us more clues as to whether this theory is true.

A sequel to “Be Right Back”

Since the dark and uncanny season 2 episode “Be Right Back,” rumors have been circulating that the episode might get a sequel. In fact, Charlie Brooker has even teased the idea himself. We’d like to see where the story goes next, although we’d settle for sequels to “San Junipero” or “White Bear” too.

Another “San Junipero” or “Hang the DJ”

The season four finale was as bleak as we’ve come to expect from the show. We love Black Mirror because it is not afraid to venture into our biggest technological fears, but we also love the happy ending, romantic episodes too. Another one of those would make the eternal torture in other episodes more palatable.

Another “Black Museum” or “White Christmas”

The season finales “Black Museum” and “White Christmas” were both over an hour long and featured mini stories within the episode of different technological nightmares. This made the episode sort of like watching three short episodes in one, and we’d love another feature-length fear-fest like these.

A Christmas time release date

Finally and most of all, we are hoping for a December release date. We’re well aware that good things take time, but if Charlie Brooker were to gift us with the new season in time for Christmas, let’s just say you wouldn’t be left waiting long for our review.
