The long-awaited adaptation of Lisa Taddeo’s Three Women is coming our way this September, and Showtime dropped its first trailer. Betty Gilpin, Shailene Woodley, DeWanda Wise, and Gabrielle Creevy explore the depths of female desire in the first promo clip.

Three Women is based on Lisa Taddeo’s book of the same name, and it “explores the compellingly raw and honest stories of three women who had the audacity to believe that they deserved more in life through a nuanced portrait of female desire,” according to its official logline.

Gilpin plays Lina, a suburban homemaker, who embarks on an all-consuming affair after a decade of a passionless marriage. Wise plays Sloane, a glamorous entrepreneur whose open marriage with Richard is threatened when two strangers enter their lives. Creevy will play Maggie, a high school student whose life falls apart after her affair with a married English teacher goes public.

Taddeo spent eight years writing this book, traveling across the United States to meet the women at this center. This aspect of the novel will be portrayed through Woodley’s character Gia, a grieving writer committed to telling their stories.

Three Women will premiere on Showtime on September 13, and its supporting cast includes Blair Underwood, John Patrick Amedori, Ravi Patel, Austin Stowell, Lola Kirke, Jason Ralph, and Blair Redford.
