Tim Burton is the king of spooky movies and it seems he’s gearing up for his first major foray into television. The legendary director is currently in the early stages of developing a live-action reboot of The Addams Family.

This project is very on-brand for Burton, who made a name for himself with a series of Halloween classics, such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride. According to Deadline, he’s also in talks to executive produce and possibly direct the series.

Not much is known about Burton’s take on The Addams Family at the moment, but Deadline also reported that it’s expected to be set in the present-day, with Wednesday Addams taking the lead. Several buyers expressed interest in the project, with Netflix leading the bidding war.

This isn’t the first time that Burton expressed an interest in dipping his toes into the spooky world of The Addams Family. Back in 2010, he was attached to a stop-motion animated film based on Charles Addams’ original drawings, but the project was scrapped three years later.
