After winning us over with his role in Furiosa, Tom Burke is gearing up for the next big thing. He landed a recurring role in Amazon Prime Video’s sequel series Blade Runner 2099 opposite Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer.
This sequel series will take place after the events of the original Blade Runner and its sequel Blade Runner 2049, but not much is known about its plot or characters at this point. It kicked off production in Prague this summer, with plans underway to also shoot in Barcelona.
Tom Burke, who’s fresh off starring in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is the latest addition to the cast, along with Maurizio Lombardi (Ripley). He rose to prominence with the role of Athos in The Musketeers, and went on to star in TV shows War & Peace, Modern Love, and The Lazarus Project.
They join the cast that also includes Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer in lead roles, plus Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham in supporting roles.
Silka Luisa will serve as showrunner and one of the executive producers of Blade Runner 2099, while Shōgun‘s Jonathan van Tulleken will direct the first two episodes.
