Toni Collette Joins Netflix’s Limited Series “Wayward”

Mae Martin is rounding out the cast of her upcoming Netflix series Wayward, and they’ll be in pretty good company. Toni Collette is the latest cast member of join the cast of Martin’s new limited series, which was originally developed under the working title Tall Pines.

Netflix’s official logline describes Wayward as a thriller “set in a bucolic but sinister town that explores the insidious underbelly of the ‘troubled teen industry’ and the eternal struggle between one generation and the next.”

In addition to playing one of the key roles, Mae Martin created this series for Netflix and will serve as its co-showrunner alongside Ryan Scott. They’re executive producing with Ben Farrell, Bruno Dubé, Hannah Mackay, and Jennifer Kawaja.

Collette joined the cast as Leanne, the headmistress at Tall Pines. Sarah Gadon, Brandon Jay McLaren, Sydney Topliffe, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Patrick J. Adams, Patrick Gallagher, and Josh Close also star in supporting roles.

Toni Collette is an Oscar-nominated actress, with a long list of notable credits under her belt, including The Sixth Sense, The Hours, Little Miss Sunshine, Hereditary, and Knives Out. On the TV side, he’s best known for her Emmy-winning turn in United States of Tara, in addition to starring in Hostages, Unbelievable, and The Staircase.
