It’s been over a year since Tulsa King was renewed for Season 2, and a lot has been going on behind the scenes in the meantime. After stepping down as showrunner of this crime drama series, Terence Winter agreed to return as a writer of its upcoming second season.

Tulsa King stars Sylvester Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mafia capo who’s been released from prison after 25 years behind bars. His boss sends him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he must establish a new criminal empire with a crew of unlikely characters.

Taylor Sheridan created this series for Paramount+, while Terence Winter served as the showrunner of the first season. He decided to step down due to creative differences, as Sheridan opted against running the series with a traditional showrunner, but it seems they’ve patched up their differences.

Winter will be back as the writer on the second season of Tulsa King, in addition to serving as one of its executive producers. He was always very vocal about how much he enjoyed working with Stallone, and he agreed to come back after his schedule cleared up following the writers’ strike.

Tulsa King will soon kick off production in Atlanta, and its second season is eying a fall premiere on Paramount+.
