Ncuti Gatwa is getting ready to embark on some epic adventures in Tardis as the 15th Doctor Who, and he won’t have to do it all alone. Varada Sethu will join him as his second companion next season, following in the footsteps of Millie Gibson.

Rumors about Sethu’s potential casting started circling around back in January when it was announced that Gibson would step down as Gatwa’s companion. According to BBC’s recent announcement, Sethu is joining the show as the second companion, instead of replacing Gibson’s Ruby Sunday.

Sethu is looking forward to embarking on this adventure with Gatwa and Gibson, and she can’t wait to see what their journey has in store.

“I feel like the luckiest person in the world. It is such an honor to be a part of the Whoniverse, and I’m so grateful to the whole Doctor Who family – because that is what they are – for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel so at home,” she said in a statement.

Showrunner Russell T Davies previously collaborated with Sethu on BBC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, before casting her in Doctor Who. She also played Cinta Kaz in the Disney+ series Andor and starred in Jurassic World Dominion.
