The eleventh season of Doctor Who has wrapped up, and viewers are largely disappointed with the finale.
When it was announced that Jodie Whittaker would take on the role of the first female Doctor, the audience responded with a mixture of excitement and backlash. The response to the season has been similar, with many viewers criticizing the show for being “too politically correct,” while others have celebrated the versatility and mix of unique new characters.
When it comes to the season finale though, the response seems unanimously leaning toward the opinion that it was a disappointment. The big reveal that Tzim-Sha (Tim Shaw) was really the bad guy did not go down as well as producers had hoped.
One viewer tweeted: “Well that was underwhelming. Never really cared about Tim Shaw in the first place (though he does a better job as the villain in this episode), and the story was weak but was made to seem stronger by never-ending exposition and dropping of sci-fi buzzwords.”
Another disappointed viewer wrote: “Tim Shaw was nothing better than meh in the first episode, which was fine because the new doctor was the main focus of the story, but there was absolutely no need to bring him back, especially for the series finale…”
Doctor Who will return on New Year’s Day.
