Netflix orders a new comedy series starring Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps.
Multiple outlets reported Tuesday that the streaming giant has given the green light to The Upshaws, a multi-camera family comedy series starring by the actor-comedian duo. The two will also serve as executive producers on the series for the streamer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the comedy centers on a working-class black family in Indiana struggling with how to make things work without a blueprint on how to do it.
Sykes and Epps are no strangers to Netflix, both having helmed comedy specials for the service. Sykes’ first Netflix stand-up special, Not Normal, is nominated for two Emmys, while Epps has filmed a couple of Netflix comedy specials — 2015’s Don’t Take It Personal and this year’s Only One Mike.
There’s no word yet on the show’s release date, episode count and additional cast members.
