Warrior has been canceled by Max after three seasons, but it’s not all bad news for the fans of this series. Jonathan Tropper’s martial arts saga, based on the writings of Bruce Lee, will continue its life on Netflix after the streamer picked up its existing three seasons.

Set during the Tong Wars, which took place in San Francisco during the late 1870s, Warrior chronicled the amazing journey of a martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm. He left China behind and emigrated to America to search for this sister, only to find himself entangled with one of the most powerful tongs in Chinatown.

Warrior is based on Bruce Lee’s original concept, and his daughter Shannon Lee served as one of the show’s executive producers. In addition to Andrew Koji as Ah Sahm, this series also starred Olivia Cheng, Dianne Doan, Jason Tobin, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Tom Weston-Jones, Hoon Lee, Perry Yung, Langley Kirkwood, Miranda Raison, and Chen Tang.

Creator Jonathan Tropper said he’s thrilled that millions more viewers around the world will discover Warrior on Netflix after Max announced its cancelation.

Warrior is a show that simply refuses to die. Through platform and regime changes, the writers, producers, cast, crew, and our stunt team continued to make something powerful, relevant, and wildly unique. And now, thanks to Netflix, we’ve been given yet another lease on life,” Tropper exclusively told Deadline.
