The Downton Abbey movie was perfect.
Except, it sadly did not include the appearance of one beloved character from the television series — Rose Aldridge.
Lord Robert’s cousin was played by Lily James and was first seen in 2012, with her last appearance being the show’s 2015 Christmas special.
If, like us, you were hoping that the Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again actress would pop up amongst her Crawley cousins at Downton.
But, alas, it was not so.
“Lily wanted to make a cameo, but [series creator Julia Fellowes] was like, ‘There’s not enough room,’” Allen Leech, who plays Tom, explained Watch What Happens Live. “It would be a bit weird if she [randomly showed up] and was like, ‘Hi, I hear the royals are here!’”
Let’s hope that there’ll be a sequel and we’ll get our dose of Rose then!
