The Haunting of Hill HouseĀ is the latest Netflix horror series and like everyone else that has started watching it, we are hooked. Keeping up with the five siblings and their individual story lines can be a challenge at first, so we thought we’d give you a little reminder of who is who.
Steven Crain (Michiel Huisman/Paxton Singleton)
Steven is the oldest child of the bunch and has chosen to process the events of his childhood by writing horror books. His decision to write about their family’s tragic past caused him and his sister Shirley to fall out. He maintains that supernatural events are natural events which we do not yet understand.
Shirley Crain (Elizabeth Reaser/Lulu Wilson)
Shirley is the rock of the family. She cares deeply for each of her siblings and gave up her financial security to help Luke recover from his addiction. Her early encounters with death have made her tough and her job requires her to work closely with dead bodies daily.
Theodora ‘Theo’ Crain (Kate Siegel/Mckenna Grace)
Theo claims to be a germaphobe and never takes off her gloves. She repels physical contact unless it is in the form of a meaningless sexual encounter. We later learn that Theo is psychic and wears the gloves as a barrier between her and the painful psychic energy around her.
Luke Crain (Oliver Jackson-Cohen/Julian Hilliard)
Luke was haunted by imaginary friends when he lived in Hill House. When he grew older, he traded them in for a heroin addiction. He struggles the most from the trauma of his childhood and still battles his demons from the past.
Nell Crain (Victoria Pedretti/Violet McGraw)
Nell is Luke’s twin brother and like Luke, she also suffers deeply from past trauma. Her sleep paralysis messed with her head as a child and she became unable to tell her imagination from reality.
