Ted Lasso has never been officially canceled or renewed since the Season 3 finale, and its future has been hanging in the balance ever since. Its co-creator Bill Lawrence recently addressed its future and said it’s up to Jason Sudeikis if the show would go on.
Lawrence recently sat down for an interview with Collider, and the fourth season of Ted Lasso was one of the topics of discussion. He said it’s up to the leading star Jason Sudeikis to decide if he wants to come back for another round, and the whole team behind the show is “down with” his decision.
“Not only is he the star, he’s the head writer, and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children… As a partner, I’m down for whatever he wants to do,” Lawrence told Collider.
Lawrence and Sudeikis co-created Ted Lasso alongside Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, and the hit series ran for three seasons on Apple TV+. It centered on a happy-go-lucky American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team, and it won two Emmy Awards for the outstanding comedy series during its run, in addition to numerous other accolades.
