Netflix is plotting its first medical procedural drama Pulse, and they found a perfect duo to lead this series. Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell have been cast as leads in Zoe Robyn’s upcoming series, set within the walls of Miami’s busiest trauma center.
Created and executive produced by Zoe Robyn, who serves as the co-showrunner alongside Carlton Cuse, Pulse centers on the staff of the Level 1 trauma center in Miami, as they navigate both medical emergencies and their equally complex personal lives.
Fitzgerald (The Fall of the House of Usher) will lead the series as Danielle “Danny” Simms, a third-year resident at Maguire Hospital, who finds herself unexpectedly promoted to chief resident. Despite being an exceptional doctor in training, her upward trajectory is hijacked by her brash and self-sabotaging nature.
She’ll be joined by Colin Woodell (The Continental) as Xander Phillips, the highly confident, respected, and charismatic chief resident of emergency medicine, who hails from one of Miami’s most powerful medical families. That doesn’t stop him from getting caught up in the Maguire drama and finding himself stuck in a romance that’s lighting up the ER.
In addition to Fitzgerald and Woodell, Pulse will also star Justina Machado (One Day at a Time) as brilliant and politically savvy doctor Natalie Cruz.
