Fans lost it when Disney Channel announced its decision to revisit Wizards of Waverly Place, and this was the right call to make. The first-look teaser for the sequel series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is here, and it will give you a major nostalgia overload.
The two-minute promo clip isn’t a straight-up trailer, and it takes us behind the scenes instead. It sees Selena Gomez and David Henrie going back to their roots and telling us “This is where it all started. We’re home,” before giving us a glimpse of their new set.
Even before the new teaser was released, it was announced this sequel series would center on adult Justin Russo, who’s trying to lead a mortal life with his wife Giada and kids Roman and Milo.
“When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities – and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World,” reads Disney Channel’s official logline.
In addition to Henrie and Gomez reprising their roles, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will also star Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora, Mimi Gianopulos, and David DeLuise. It will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.
