Zach Galifianakis in "Baskets"

Despite never attracting huge ratings, Zach Galifianakis starred comedy Baskets received season four renewal from FX. According to the network, we should expect the new episodes to premiere in spring of 2019. The season three recently wrapped with a finale aired on March 27.

Galifianakis stars in a dual role as Chip, a failed professional clown who starts working in the rodeo business, and Chip’s brother Dale. The comedy also stars Martha Kelly as Martha Brooks, Chip’s only friend and Louie Anderson as Christine, Chip and Dale’s mother.

Baskets continues to deliver thanks to the dream creative team led by Jonathan Krisel (co-creator) and Zach Galifianakis, and we couldn’t be happier to order a fourth season to air next year,” – said FX original programming president Eric Schrier. “Each season brings us closer to the Baskets family and their pursuit of life, love and clowning glory. Our thanks to the producers and the cast for making Baskets such a joy to watch.”

Co-created by Louis C.K., Zach Galifianakis, and Jonathan Krisel, the series premiered in 2016 on FX and ended up receiving positive reviews from the critics. It also received several Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, with Louie Anderson winning an Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category. The ratings, however, never managed to follow its critical success with the finale of season three being watched by 307.000 viewers.
