Streaming studio The Network is plotting a murder mystery series The Artist, set during the Gilded Age, and its cast will be an embarrassment of riches. Zachary Quinto, Patti LuPone, Hank Azaria, and Clark Gregg are the latest stars to join the ensemble cast of this promising project.

The Artist hails from the free, ad-supported streamer and studio The Network, and it was created, executive produced, written, and directed by its founder Aram Rappaport. It will be set in the twilight of the Gilded Age, and it centers on a group of notable figures attending a party of an eccentric and failing tycoon, which ends in his untimely demise.

Mandy Patinkin will play the eccentric tycoon Norman Henry, while Janet McTeer will take on the role of his wife Marian. Danny Huston previously joined the cast as the French artist Edgar Degas, and it turns out he won’t be the only notable historical figure featured in this series.

Hank Azaria landed the role of the famed inventor Thomas Edison, along with Quinto as a white shoe lawyer Delphin Delmas, Patti LuPone as Marian Henry’s disapproving sister Rosie Morsch, and Clark  Gregg as Harry Kendall Thaw, the spoiled son of a successful coal and railroad baron.

The Artist will soon kick off production in Connecticut, and it’s eying March 2025 release date.
