The fourth season of The Equalizer will soon reach its end, and fans won’t have to worry about what the future holds after the finale airs. CBS officially renewed the crime drama series led by Queen Latifah for its fifth season.

Based on the 80s spy drama of the same name, The Equalizer centers on Robyn McCall, a former CIA operative and a single mother who uses her extensive skills to become a guardian angel and a defender for people who have nowhere else to turn.

The renewal of The Equalizer doesn’t come as a shocker since Season 4 attracted pretty solid ratings, averaging 7.89 million linear viewers. Season 5 was officially confirmed after CBS closed a deal with the leading lady and executive producer Queen Latifah, and the next season will reportedly return to the 18-episode count.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, confirmed that The Equalizer would be back for another ride and praised its creative team for transforming it into one of the most compelling shows on CBS.

The Equalizer, led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama. The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes, and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season,” said Reisenbach in a statement.

The Peabody Awards nominations are finally in, and some of the most acclaimed TV series of the past year made the cut. The Bear and The Last of Us are among the major contenders in the entertainment field, along with Fellow Travelers, Reservation Dogs, and Jury Duty.

Jeffrey Jones, executive director of Peabody, said they’re dedicated to honoring the most compelling stories across the media landscape and praised this year’s nominees for crafting bold stories that continue to inspire us and challenge us to do better.

“Each of the 68 nominees this year deserve to be recognized for telling unique stories that leave a profound impact in capturing our imaginations. From exposing injustice to capturing the struggles and triumphs of inspirational figures across the world, these extraordinary nominees demonstrate the power and beauty of compelling storytelling,” said Jones in a statement.

The list of nominees this year covers television, podcasts/radio, news, documentary, arts, children’s/youth, public service, and multimedia programming categories, but the one that piqued our interest is the entrainment field.

FX’s The Bear, HBO’s The Last of Us, Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, and Amazon Freeve’s Jury Duty made the cut in this category. The list of contenders also includes Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai, Lupin, and The Fall of the House of Usher, Prime Video’s Dead Ringers, Peacock’s Poker Face, FX’s Reservation Dogs, and HBO’s Somebody Somewhere and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, along with the film Reality.

Netflix has given us one of its biggest surprise hits in recent months with Baby Reindeer, and this show is getting credit where credit is due. This limited series soared to the top of the streamer’s English-language TV chart with 13.3 million views.

Baby Reindeer was created for Netflix by the British comedian Richard Gadd, and it draws inspiration from his one-man show of the same name. It’s based on his real-life experience with being stalked and chronicles his “warped relationship with his female stalker and the impact it has on him as he is ultimately forced to face a deep, dark buried trauma,” according to its official logline.

Richard Gadd created this series and plays the lead role alongside Jessica Gunning, while the supporting cast includes Nava Mau, Tom Goodman-Hill, Hugh Coles, Michael Wildman, Danny Kirrane, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Nina Sosanya.

Baby Reindeer debuted on Netflix on April 11 and initially attracted 2.6 million views in its first few days of availability, only to rise to the top with 13.3 million. These numbers are quite impressive considering its seven-episode count and the lack of a large-scale marketing campaign ahead of its release.

The rest of the shows in the top ten were far behind Baby Reindeer, including Unlocked: A Jail Experiment at No. 2 with 5 million views and 3 Body Problem at No. 3 with 3.2 million views.

Based on Interplay Entertainment’s beloved video game franchise, Fallout is set in the post-apocalyptic future, where most survivors live in fallout bunkers. It centers on a young woman named Lucy, who decides to leave the only home she’s ever known and venture out into the wasteland of Los Angeles.

Ella Purnell leads the Fallout cast, with Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Walton Goggins in supporting roles.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are executive producing the series via Kilter Films, said they can’t wait to blow up our world all over again in Season 2.

“Praise be to our insanely brilliant showrunners, Geneva [Robertson-Dworet] and Graham [Wagner], to our kick-ass cast, to Todd and James and all the legends at Bethesda, and to Jen, Vernon, and the amazing team at Amazon for their incredible support of this show,” said the duo in a statement.

The first season of Elsbeth still hasn’t ended its run, but its future is looking bright. CBS was so impressed by the performance of the latest The Good Wife spin-off that they’ve decided to give it an early Season 2 renewal.

This legal dramedy is led by Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni, an unconventional attorney who left her successful career in Chicago behind to start a new life in New York and use her singular point of view to corner criminals alongside the NYPD.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, confirmed they’re bringing Elsbeth back for another ride, and praised the creative team behind it for creating an incredibly entertaining and engrossing New York City-centric story.

Elsbeth has charmed audiences with its singular blend of delightful humor, distinctive ‘how-done-it’ storytelling, and the inventive, brilliant quirkiness of Elsbeth Tascioni. We are grateful to the uniquely talented cast for bringing these wonderful characters to life,” said Reisenbach in a statement.

In addition to Preston in the lead role, Elsbeth also stars Wendell Pierce, Carra Patterson, Danny McCarthy, Fredric Lehne, and Gloria Reuben. An impressive roster of guest stars popped up throughout the first season, including Jane Krakowski, Retta, Keegan-Michael Key, Gina Gershon, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Michelle Williams is gearing up to lead FX’s upcoming series Dying For S-x, and she’ll be in pretty good company. Rob Delaney, David Rasche, and Esco Jouléy are the latest actors to join this limited series in key recurring roles.

Dying For S-x draws inspiration from the hit Wondery podcast, about a woman named Molly who decides to turn her life around after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She leaves her husband of 15 years and embarks on a journey of self-discovery with the help of her best friend Nikki.

Williams will lead the series as Molly, and Jenny Slate previously joined the cast as her BFF Nikki. Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock wrote the series and serve as its showrunners and executive producers.

Rob Delaney, best known as the star of the BAFTA-winning series Catastrophe and the Deadpool franchise, will play Molly’s strangely magnetic neighbor, known simply as Neighbor Guy.

David Rasche (Succession) was cast as Molly’s old-school oncologist with no bedside manner, Dr. Pankowitz. Esco Jouléy (State of the Union) will portray Sonya, described as a palliative care social worker fresh out of grad school, who gives Molly some much-needed guidance during her darkest moments.

Family Guy is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and its ending is still nowhere in sight. Its creator Seth MacFarlane recently discussed the show’s potential ending, and said he doesn’t see a good reason to pull the plug because people still love it.

MacFarlane recently set down with the Los Angeles Times to discuss the 25th anniversary of Family Guy and addressed the show’s incredible longevity. He admitted there were times he felt it was time to wrap it up, but he no longer feels this way because this animated series makes people happy and funds some good causes.

“At this point, we’ve reached escape velocity. I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, ‘Eh, we don’t care about Family Guy anymore.’ But that hasn’t happened yet,” explained MacFarlane.

Family Guy has been running for 22 seasons and it’s one of the defining animated series of the 21st century, but it was off to a rocky start. It ran for two seasons on Fox before it was canceled, but they eventually gave it a last-minute pick-up before axing it again. Re-runs helped this series gain a cult following, and Fox decided to pick it up again for Season 4 in 2005, and they’ve given us a new season every year ever since.

TV adaptation of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is coming our way this year, and it will be available on one of our favorite streaming services. Netflix has taken the international rights for the adaptation of Holly Jackson’s young adult novel, led by Wednesday’s Emma Myers.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder kicks off five years after the murder of a popular high school senior shook a small English town, and one person still believes that this crime is yet to be solved.

“Pip Fitz-Amobi sees how the gruesome murder still has a grip on her hometown, and she thinks there’s more to the story. Pip begins an investigation of her own as she looks into the case for her senior project, determined to get to the bottom of this mystery,” reads Netflix’s press release.

In addition to Emma Myers in the lead role, this series will also star Zain Iqbal, Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle, Mathew Baynton, India Lillie Davies, Rahul Pattni, Henry Ashton, Mitu Panicucci, Orla Hill, Asha Banks, and Mathew Baynton, among others.

This adaptation hails from Red Rose writer Poppy Cogan and director Dolly Wells. It will premiere in the UK this July on BBC 3 and BBC iPlayer, while Netflix will handle the distribution in the US and most other international territories.

It’s only been ten days since Fallout premiered on Amazon Prime Video, and the streaming giant is bringing it back for another ride. The TV adaptation of the hit video game knocked it out of the park with its first season, and it’s officially returning for Season 2.

Fallout debuted on Amazon Prime Video on April 10, and all eight episodes of Season 1 are available for streaming.
