Based on the book series of the same name by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, The Spiderwick Chronicles follows the adventures of siblings Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace, who realize that magical creatures are real after moving to their ancestral home, Spiderwick.

The Spiderwick Chronicles debuted on Roku on April 19, with all eight episodes, after being axed by Disney+ due to cost-cutting reasons. Roku claims that “millions” tuned in to watch this series during its opening weekend, which earned the highest daily reach and most hours streamed for any title in Roku’s history during its opening weekend.

Brian Tannenbaum, Roku’s head of originals, described The Spiderwick Chronicles as proof that great IPs with great talent can thrive on their platform.

“We believed in Spiderwick for those reasons, and we will continue to make those types of series and films that directly engage with our streamers and can flourish not only inside the Roku Channel but also on the Roku platform,” Tannenbaum told Deadline.

Dying for S-x draws inspiration from a hit Wondery podcast, and it stars Williams as Molly, a woman who realizes she missed out on a lot in life after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She decides to leave her husband of 15 years and embark on a journey of self-discovery with the help of her loyal best friend Nikki (Slate).

Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock serve as writers and showrunners of this series, and they’re also executive producing it alongside Williams, Katherine Pope, Nikki Boyer, Wondery’s Jen Sargent, Marshall Lewy, Aaron Hart, and Hernan Lopez.

Spacek joined the series Molly’s mother Gail, who has a complicated history with her daughter. The supporting cast will also include Rob Delaney, Jay Duplass, David Rasche, Kelvin Yu, and Esco Jouléy.

Spacek is a Hollywood veteran, who has one Oscar under her belt, and she’s been nominated for three Emmys for her work on TV. Her most recent credits include the comedy film Sam & Kate and the TV series Night Sky and Homecoming.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society will center on four members of a suburban garden club from different walks of life, whose peaceful hobby takes a sinister turn when they get caught up in murder and mischief while struggling to make their conventional lives bloom.

King’s character Catherine is described as “an unhappily married mother of two younger children, a realtor and active member of the Garden Society who works off some of her loneliness with a very juicy secret.”

After years of speculations about a potential The Office reboot, things finally started looking promising earlier this year. Greg Daniels, the creator of the original series, opened a development room with trusted writers back in January to explore new series ideas.

He found a perfect partner in crime in the Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman, who’s joining him as co-writer of the new spin-off. Not much is known about this project, but it’s believed it would focus on a new cast of characters working at a new office, that exits in the same universe as the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company from Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Domhnall Gleeson, who previously co-starred alongside The Office leading man Steve Carell in The Patient, has been tapped to play one of the lead roles. He most recently starred in the Channel 4 mini-series Alice & Jack and HBO’s historical drama White House Plumbers.

Sabrina Impacciatore will also star in the spin-off series alongside Gleeson. She’s best known as the star of the second season of The White Lotus, which earned her an Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a drama series.

ABC Signature recently acquired Esquire’s profile of the civil rights activist The Redemption of Al Sharpton, and they’re trying to develop it into a limited series. Mitchell S. Jackson’s article saw him follow Sharpton around the country “to find out why he keeps going, what he’s still doing, and where his place in history will be.”

No talent is officially attached to this project, but Anthony Anderson is circling the lead role, with the intention to executive produce this series via his Just a Kid from Compton Productions. His producing partner Evi Regev and Artists First’s E. Brian Dobbins would also get a producing credit.

Anderson is best known as the star of ABC’s hit sitcom Black-ish, which earned him 11 Emmy nominations during its run, both as its star and executive producer. The Sympathizer draws inspiration from Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, about a communist spy who kept reporting to the Viet Cong even after the Vietnam War was over. Robert Downey Jr. plays several antagonist roles in this project, and we’ve seen him portray a CIA agent, a shady congressman, and a self-absorbed director in the first episode alone!

Park Chan-Wook initially considered several great actors for different roles, including Josh Brolin and Mark Ruffalo, but he decided to only stick to one because he felt this idea would subvert his original intention for these characters.

“I came to realize these guys are actually one and the same because they’re doing all different kinds of things, but essentially they’re representing America as a whole… So I thought I would flip the script and that one actor will be playing all these roles,” he told Deadline.

The Sympathizer debuted on Max on April 14, and it will feature a total of seven episodes streaming weekly.

Over the course of the two first seasons, Hacks followed the adventures of a legendary Las Vegas stand-up diva Deborah Vance, and a young writer Ava, who was brought in to help rejuvenate her act and make it more relevant.

Despite being a huge star with multiple Oscar nominations under his belt, Cooper was up for a rude awakening when most of the Abbott teachers and students couldn’t remember a single film that he was in.

Abbott Elementary creator and leading lady Quinta Brunson recently discussed his cameo during Deadline’s Contenders TV event and revealed how it came together.

“We talked for weeks leading up to his appearance about what he could do. He’s a Philly boy, so it’s not far-fetched that he would be in the neighborhood. It would have felt weird if he came and played a character. He’s a movie star… It was better for him to play himself,” said Brunson.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds centers on the adventures of the crew of the USS Enterprise led by Captain Christopher Pike, exploring a galaxy a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series.

Co-creators Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman and co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers confirmed the show’s renewal and said they’re looking forward to sharing more adventures with the Trekkies.

“On behalf of the cast and crew of Strange New Worlds, we are thrilled and grateful to continue our voyages together. We can’t wait for you to join us and the crew of the Enterprise on another season of exploration and adventure,” said the trio in a joint statement.

Despite renewing Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Paramount+ decided to ax another series set in the same universe. The animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks will end its run with the upcoming fifth season, which will return for its grand finale this fall.
