HBO confirmed the casting of John Lithgow (The Crown) as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (The White Queen) as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You) as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz) as Rubeus Hagrid, after it was previously reported they’re in talks to join the show. The cast will also include Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Francesca Gardiner, showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod, director of multiple episodes and executive producer, released an official statement announcing the show’s cast, adding, “We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life.”

Based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series, HBO’s new take on Harry Potter has been described as “a faithful adaptation”, which will explore every corner of the Wizarding World. Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, and Reneé Rapp led the first two seasons of the show, before Rapp stepped down as a series regular in Season 3. The show’s cast also included Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers.

The S-x Lives of College Girls was co-created for Max by Justin Noble and Mindy Kaling, under her overall deal with studio Warner Bros. Television. Noble also served as showrunner, while Kaling joined him as one of executive producers alongside Howard Klein, Charlie Grandy, Matt Warburton, David Gordon Green, Jessica Kumai Scott, and Michael Spiller.

According to its official logline, it will see the school principal Ava announcing that the district is sending a group of volunteers to help out teachers at Abbott, but things don’t go exactly as planned when they arrive.

That doesn’t come as a huge shocker, since the volunteers in question happen to be the chaotic gang from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The first promo clip teases the appearance of Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Kaitlin Olson, and wraps up with a hilarious interaction between Danny DeVito’s Frank and William Stanford Davis’ Mr. Johnson.

The idea for this crossover came together pretty organically after Abbott’s Quinta Brunson and Always Sunny’s Rob McElhenney linked up, and she believes it feels pretty natural despite the shows’ different vibes.

“We saw a world in which we could bring our shows together since they are both in Philadelphia. It was really simple and people are confused, but I think it works really well and it helps that we’re all under the Disney umbrella, so it hasn’t been as painful as it could have been,” Brunson told People.
